Dry Needling & Acupuncture

What is Dry Needling?

Many people correctly classify it as a form of Acupuncture. Dry Needling (DN) is a contemporary version of Acupuncture that relies on a deep understanding of Anatomy. It is sometimes called Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS).

What can I expect with Dry Needling?

Dry Needling is muscle-based Acupuncture that is performed by highly trained and skilled Physiotherapists. It uses a thin, single-use monofilament needle to penetrate the skin and attack trigger points. With this, the nervous system is stimulated to normalize muscle tension, solve muscle pain and remedy dysfunction.

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is similar to Dry Needling because it uses the same needles. The real difference is where the needles are inserted. Dry Needling is muscle-based while Acupuncture is based on specific stimulus points on the body called 'Meridians'.

Conditions Treated

Dry Needling and Acupuncture can treat a variety of conditions such as neck pain, back pain, lumbar strain, tennis elbow, sciatica, stroke, rotator cuff pathologies, muscle strains, headache, arthritis, tendonitis, sprains and strains, knee pain and much more.
